Meet Susan, founder of Turners Oak

Hi, I'm Susan.  If you are just starting to think of making a move, are needing to make a move now or are looking to sell a home on behalf of a loved one then we are here to help.

I founded Turners Oak because I believe there's so much more we can do to help people like you navigate the uniqueness of considering a move in later life. 

Moves in later life are unique for a combination of emotional, logistical, financial and practical reasons. When you've not moved for many years there are also many unknowns which makes it difficult to make informed decisions. 

Turners Oak exists to demystify the moving process and provide information, advice and practical support alongside compassion, empathy and some smiles.  We also support families selling a home once a loved one has moved into long-term care or has passed away.

I've been an estate agent for over 15 years and have overseen thousands of home moves. I've also worked in two Surrey law firms, studied law and supported my mum and other family friends with their own moves in later life.  

I've personally seen many instances where clients have left it too late to make a positive move because they didn't know where to start or they felt overwhelmed by the idea of moving. My mum almost did the same. She did move in time (just!) and now has so much more freedom and independence in her bungalow than she would have had if she remained in the family home. 

I am also a champion for clients deciding to stay at home and I would love that decision to be an active, informed decision rather than a passive decision. That's why we have created our Future Planning service alongside our Moving Manager service and Estate Agency service. 

I am proud to be the only Estate Agency affiliated with the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) who provide the gold-standard of financial advice to those in later life. Estate Agency is an unregulated industry so we have worked with SOLLA advisers to create our own policies which you can read here.
